Van Houten – With a history that extends back to the very beginning of chocolate as we know it today, Van Houten is a pioneering, innovative manufacturer of chocolate powders. Coenraad van Houten patented the cocoa press in 1828, allowing cocoa powder and cocoa butter to be separated, and his son later invented the well-known and still used ‘Dutching’ process that produces the milder, less acidic chocolate flavour we all love.
