Culinary alcohol concentrates are spirits and liqueurs made for food production, with more strength and flavour than the drinking versions. A small amount flavours ganache, truffles and bars, intensifies your other ingredients and helps extend shelf life, which makes them more economical to use than bottled liqueurs. Read our guide to Working with Culinary Alcohol for our top tips on flavouring and extending shelf life with alcohols.
Which Alcohol Concentrate Should I Choose?
Start with the flavour. Cointreau and Limoncello bring citrus, Amaretto adds almond, Jacobert Kirsch adds cherry, and St.Remy XO Brandy and Marc Champenois give warmth to truffles. Whisky lovers can choose Label 5 or Glen Turner Pure Malt, and rum comes from Mount Gay or Rum Iles du Vent. Try Marc Champenois truffles, a rum ganache or a limoncello white chocolate bar.
Can I Reclaim Duty on Alcohol Concentrates?
You may be eligible to reclaim Excise Duty on alcohol concentrates used in your products. Check the current rules with HMRC before you buy, and ask our team if you need help choosing a spirit for your recipe.
