What is a ‘pome fruit’?

You’ve probably seen the word ‘pomme’, French for apple, but pome comes from the Latin for fruit, ‘pomum’. Pome fruits have a central core containing multiple small seeds, surrounded by an edible layer of flesh and a tough outer membrane.

Pome fruits might sound fancy, but they are the familiar flavours we all love, apples, pears and quinces. Sweet, gently tart, and oh-so-versatile, they bring a clean, refreshing profile that’s perfect for the warmer months.
