Ruth Hinks achieves World Chocolate Masters Finals 2013 Success!

The team at Keylink are delighted to extend our congratulations to Ruth Hinks for ranking in the top 5 contestants in the World Chocolate Masters!

In 1st place was Davide Comaschi form Itlay, in 2nd place Marike van Beurden from the Netherlands and in 3rd place Deniz Karaca from Australia.

Ruth is the only female entrant ever to have represented the UK at The World Chocolate Masters competition, which ran this year from the 28th to the 30th October, held at the fabulous Salon du Chocolat Professionnel in Porte de Versailles, Paris.

The theme of this year’s competition was ‘The Architecture of Taste’ - the most challenging and complex theme presented to the participants so far - with all 19 contestants producing a number of ingenious and original creations including:

• A completely original dipped praline
• A gastronomic chocolate dessert
• Moulded pralines made from a personally designed mould
• A chocolate pastry
• And a stunning showpiece measuring between 1 and 2 metres high, made entirely from chocolate in just 3 hours!

With events streamed live to all corners of the globe from Porte de Versailles, Paris, the heat was well and truly on as the world’s attention turned to this most prestigious of competitions!

Ruth’s fascination with chocolate started at the age of 13 when she began making and selling Easter eggs for pocket money from her father’s dental practice, in her hometown of South Africa. Little did she know that this early interest in all things chocolate would one day lead her to the World Chocolate Masters. In 2012 her culinary career hit new heights when she became the first woman to win the UK World Chocolate Masters.
