Ready to take something good and make it great?
We’re looking for a smart, driven Technical Officer who wants more than a routine compliance job.
If you love structure but see potential in every spreadsheet, form, or process, this is your chance to shape how things work – not just follow what’s always been done.
You’ve got a background in food science, food tech, or something similar – and you know your way around specifications, systems, and standards.
You understand BRCGS or GFSI frameworks, not just in theory but in how they work day-to-day.
You’re tech-savvy and comfortable diving into digital tools and making them work smarter, experience working with a QMS.
You spot inefficiencies and instinctively think, “There’s a better way to do this.”
You’re organised, curious, and not afraid to own your area – but you're just as happy working with others to solve problems and drive things forward.
You care about the detail, but you're excited by progress.
As Technical Officer, you’ll play a central role in ensuring technical and compliance processes run smoothly, while driving improvements to how we manage specifications, supplier records, and internal documentation.
You’ll work and collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure day-to-day compliance, while bringing a fresh perspective to how we manage data, respond to customer queries, and support our growing own-brand range.
You’ll maintain and improve:
- Product specifications, SAQs, and COCs
- Supplier compliance records and SOPs aligned with BRCGS clauses
- Digital systems and technical documentation
- Internal reviews such as GMP, traceability, and system checks
- Responses to technical product enquiries and customer requests
This is a role for someone with food safety or food tech knowledge, who understands BRCGS frameworks, and is excited to use tech and insight to streamline and enhance how we operate.
Skills and competencies
- Technical proficiency – confident using digital systems (e.g. QMS, WMS, etc.); able to identify and implement tech-based process improvements.
- Strong attention to detail – maintains accurate records, ensures full traceability, and understands the impact of small errors in compliance work.
- Analytical mindset – able to assess risks, evaluate documentation, and translate regulatory requirements into practical systems and SOPs.
- Problem-solver – brings initiative to improve workflows, challenge outdated methods, and streamline operations.
- Excellent communicator – capable of presenting technical information clearly to non-technical teams and collaborating across departments.
- Organised and adaptable – balances structured documentation tasks with fastmoving project work and evolving priorities.
- Process ownership – comfortable taking responsibility for maintaining, refining, and developing internal systems and documentation.
- Commercial awareness – understands the importance of product integrity, traceability, and compliance in a fast-paced food environment.
Qualifications and experience
- Degree in Food Technology/Food Science (required)
- 2+ years in a technical/compliance role in the food industry (required)
- HACCP Level 2 or 3 (desirable)
- Experience with BRCGS or similar GFSI standard (required)
- Familiarity with SOPs, internal audits, and documentation systems (required)
Location
Please note that this is a full-time, office-based role, so applicants will need to live within a commutable distance of Dinnington, S25.
