Lubeca has been producing outstanding and incomparable delights from exquisite ingredients since 1904.
Lubeca is a family of chocolates, marzipans, pralines and nuts, made from the finest ingredients using traditional recipes. Founded in 1904, Lubeca is owned by the non-profit Friedrich Bluhme and Else Jebsen Foundation, which uses the company’s earnings to support good causes in the Lübeck region of Germany.
Lubeca has long been known for its premium quality marzipan, which contains a higher proportion of almond to sugar, achieving an authentic flavour that’s worlds apart from the sugary, preservative-filled marzipans we’ve all experienced in the past! This, teamed with their method of grinding rather than cutting their almonds and sugar, before roasting in open copper vessels, is what sets these almond products apart from their cheaper counterparts.
Lubeca’s chocolates are made using specially selected cocoa varieties from Ghana, Venezuela, Trinidad, Madagascar and Peru.
They’re well known for their incredibly smooth mouthfeel and high shine, which is achieved by intensively grinding the mass until the solid matter’s particle size is reduced to around 16 microns, (sixteen thousandths of a millimetre).
A lengthy conching process also ensures a very clean and mellow taste, accentuating the quality and flavour characteristics of the cocoa.
Pralinés are a combination of sugar and nuts – usually hazelnuts or almonds. Lubeca pralines are available in semi-liquid and sliceable form, contain a high proportion of nuts, and taste smooth and buttery.
Also available from Lubeca are premium quality nuts, in ideal pack sizes for chocolate work.
The eight pillars of Lubeca’s corporate policy are quality, security, service, reliability, price, sustainability, environment, and ethics. As members of the Forum Nachhaltiger Kakao (the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa), Lubeca is committed to building a more sustainable cocoa industry.
Lubeca's marzipan is made to a centuries-old, traditional recipe, producing an authentic flavour of slightly-sweetened almond.

Earlier this year, the Barry Callebaut factory in Belgium closed for several months following a salmonella-positive chocolate production lot. While the factory has re-opened and our Callebaut stocks are improving again, the closure had a significant ripple effect on the chocolate industry and our other brands continue to be in high demand.
